The Eccles Organ Festival continues Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 8:00 PM at theCathedral of the Madeleine with a recital featuring Tom Winpenny.Tom Winpenny is Assistant Master of the Music at St Albans Cathedral, UK, where his duties include accompanying the daily choral services and directing the acclaimed Cathedral Girls Choir. Previous positions include, Sub-Organist at St Paul's Cathedral, London, Organ Scholar at Worcester Cathedral and St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, and for three years Organ Scholar at King's College, Cambridge,where he graduated with a degree in music.He has broadcast regularly on BBC Radio and regularly featured on American Public Media's Pipedreamsand many of his solo organ recordings – including Olivier Messiaen’s cycles L’Ascension and La Nativitédu Seigneur, Les Corps Glorieux/Messe de la Pentecôte and Livre d'Orgue and Elgar's organ works(Naxos) – were awarded five-star reviews both in Choir and Organ magazine and in the French journal Diapason, and a Critic's Choice in Gramophone magazine and in the American Record Guide.Mr. Winpenny will also be the featured clinician at a master class held on the iconic 1948 Æolian-SkinnerOrgan of the Salt Lake Tabernacle on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM, giving local organists theopportunity to be coached by one of the brightest stars in the organ world today. The Eccles Organ Festival is grateful to the Salt Lake City Chapter of The American Guild of Organists for funding the master class and to the The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their hospitality.
